This page features dynamically post-processed Numerical Weather Prediction products. The products are for use by students in order to help gain an understanding of how the dynamical properties taught throughout Dynamical Meteorology coursework affect weather systems. All fields are derived from the 00h00Z GFS 0.25 degree suite. The analysis is done from a Potential Vorticity (PV) thinking point of view as described in all basic dynamical theory texts (eg. Holton and Hakim, 2013). Presented are the depth of dynamical tropopause (with a definition of 2 PVU), isentropic PV for Rossby Wave Breaking (RWB) analysis and longitudinal cross-sections of PV.
These products are for research and educational purposes only. For official forecasts, please visit the South African Weather Service (SAWS) at www.weathersa.co.za or the SAWS Marine Portal at marine.weathersa.co.za
